Travis Lovett Kerrupmara/Gunditjmara man-
The Walk for Truth from Portland to Parliament was a powerful invitation for all of society to walk together, to listen deeply and to reckon with the truth. Led by Gunditjmara man Travis Lovett, the 513-kilometre journey began on Country at Portland and concluded at the steps of Victoria’s Parliament. Over 22,000 people joined the Walk for Truth. Many Elders, families, school groups, community leaders and allies united in a shared commitment to truth-telling, justice, healing and hope.
This was not a protest, it was a public act of truth-telling. A space where everyone was welcome to learn, reflect and engage. Along the way, people heard stories of survival and strength, of continued injustice and resistance. Everyone walked in solidarity with First Peoples and with one another committed to building a future grounded in Truth. The Walk for Truth reminded us that this work belongs to all of us.
Together, we are walking toward truth, justice, healing, and hope for a more shared and equitable future.
